The College - Rajendra Prasad Degree College, Meerganj, Distt. Bareilly (U.P.) was established in remote, rural and backward area. The founder ofthe college late Dhaiam Dutt Vaidya - Freedom Fighter and Honble Health
Minister in the then State Congress Government, established this college in
1968, due to the fact that most of the younger generation of this area was in dearth
of higher education and they desperately needed an institution to cope with the
problems. |

Formerly it was affiliated to Agra University, Agra and later on affiliated to Rohilkhand University, Bareilly when it came in existence in Feb. 1975. The college was recognized by University Grants Commission, New Delhi uader 2(0 on 15-05-69. The college management body has duly registered under Society Registration Act, 1960 vide Registration No. B-534/2005-06.The Managing Committee constituted as per rules is also duly approved by the Vice-Chancellor of M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly. |

The college is imparting Co-education at Graduate level in Hindi, English, jj. Economics, Sociology, Political Science, Sanskrit, Geography and Defence Studies as well as at Post-Graduate level in Hindi, Geography and Defence Studies, having almost 2000 students annually. |

During last five years the examination result of the institution has been on an average more than 85%. |

The institution has a research centre in various disciplines. |

The institution has a central library working 7 Hrs. (10.00 am to 5.00 pm) daily consisting of total 23,904 books including encyclopaedia, text books, reference books, journals, periodicals etc. The library has all the required facilities for the students and teachers. |
