The College - Rajendra Prasad Degree College, Meerganj, Distt. Bareilly (U.P.) was established in remote, rural and backward area. The founder ofthe college late Dhaiam Dutt Vaidya - Freedom Fighter and Honble Health Minister in the then State Congress Government, established this college in 1968, due to the fact that most of the younger generation of this area was in dearth of higher education and they desperately needed an institution to cope with the problems.

Formerly it was affiliated to Agra University, Agra and later on affiliated to Rohilkhand University, Bareilly when it came in existence in Feb. 1975. The college was recognized by University Grants Commission, New Delhi uader 2(0 on 15-05-69. The college management body has duly registered under Society Registration Act, 1960 vide Registration No. B-534/2005-06.The Managing Committee constituted as per rules is also duly approved by the Vice-Chancellor of M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly.
